Jonah and the Whale Shark*
What really swallowed Jonah?
Does it matter??
[When simple truths get distorted, fantasy-folk tales emerge.....in Jonah's case, the truth is even better than the folk tale!]
--->Jonah was swallowed by a "great" or "large fish" {Jonah 1:17}; NOT a whale, which is a mammal, or air-breather.
Jonah was swallowed by a Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) , the largest fish that has ever lived (60+ ft.****GBWR: largest recorded-11/11/1949-captured off Pakistan @ 41 1/2 ft. & 23 tons****).....spotted, extremely gentle, feeding on plankton.
[Since the beginning of creation, the remaining species of the sea and oceans have survived, even through the Flood of Noah; only the LAND inhabitants perished then.
What's a little more water to sea creatures who live in water?]
~~The largest sea creature is a Blue Whale; a mammal [air breather, not a fish~] and larger than the dinosaurs~~
Since the days of Jonah, the "shark" part of the name got dropped from the social record, and we are left with a whale of a misconception.
Best regards,
Captain Church
